Our First Trip of the Year Comes to an End

2016’s first trip to Tybee Island has come to an end.  We had a blast seeing a few sights, hanging around the campground, and eating at a few restaurants that we tried for the first time.

As it seems with every campground that we’ve stayed at, we had great neighbors.  William had several long conversations with both Joey and Rita and the kids were all ears hearing Joey tell a story on Wednesday night.   (Please take a few minutes to pray for Joey as he has Stage 4 and incurable cancer: his prayer was that God lets him see 45 years of marriage with his wife- 43 so far)

On Wednesday, we spent the day at Fort Pulaski and enjoyed a picnic lunch right on the water.

The kids (and William), had fun going on an adventure while Kelly laid out and took a nap under the sun and enjoyed a fabulous cool breeze!

Of the three restaurants that we tried this week, Zunzi’s, got us the most out of our comfort zone.  At the suggestion of Eric Blades, we tried the world famous Conquistador sandwich (Travel Channel’s #2 sandwich in the United States).  We were not disappointed at all!  May even spur us on to continue trying foods that are unique to our tastebuds.

When in Savannah, we always have to go to Leopold’s!

They make the best ice cream AND give the military 50% off 🙂 A couple years ago, Mackenzie was able to meet the owner, Stratton Leopold, who is also a famous movie producer. She thought she was big stuff since she got to meet him and not her siblings.

We really had a great time in one of our favorite cities! Since 2009, the first time we went to Savannah, we’ve always had a love for it and learning about the history of the city, keeps us going back…we learn something new every time we go 🙂
